Shots from Malim Nawar

Post by mun on Wed Feb 06, 2013 1:12 pm

I made a visit to this locality specifically see the Tufted Duck. Although the duck is not that shy, it kept to the middle part of the pond and I could only manage to obtain record shots. But I am happy because I have waited a long time to get this lifer.

We came across another rare migrant which is the Sand Martin. About 30 individuals were recorded on that day.

Finally, this immature Blue-eared Kingfisher suddenly alighted on a perch just in front of me.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone celebrating the Chinese New Year GONG XI FA CHAI!

Thanks, Tou.

The Sand Martins can be found at the fishing ponds that are quite near to the geological(?) station. You can't miss them as they will rest along low-lying cables above the ponds.
